The 45 King's "900 Number". Nothing but a loop from an obscure James Brown production. A tenor sax honks, the beat cracks, two measures, repeat. And it goes on forever. It's astoundingly funky, dirt-stupid simple, and you can do the Ed Lover Dance to it.
Hip-hop at its most basic, a jam to make the party jump, concise, elegant, and unending. That's what it's all about.
(And as if that's not enough: You take that framework, add a Kool & The Gang breakdown, have some guy from D.C. rap over it, and you have the most gleefully retarded single of the late 90s- "Let Me Clear My Throat" by DJ Kool.)
There ya go, sheer perfection, BOOM. 'Nuff Said.
